The College of Food Safety of Guizhou Medical University was established in July 2014, and currently comprised of four teaching sections and one undergraduate experiment centre. Our College have not only integrated the industrial resources but also the institutions outstanding in food quality and safety testing and research, to provide excellence in teaching, learning, and research in solving problems in food quality and safety areas such as national food, agricultural products, and provincial cuisines in Guizhou province. We are committed to our mission of teaching, research and innovation in nutrition & food hygiene, preventive medicine, basic medicine, and biotechnology & bioengineering, etc.
The total number of full-time faculty and staff are twenty-two, and five of them are professor and associate professor. Those who got their PhD degrees from different universities account for 20% of the faculty, and 15 staff have master degrees. 90% of the faculty are young teachers under 40 years of age. In addition, 90% of the faculty had extra-university education background.
The College programmes are for Bachelor level in Food Quality and Safety, covering a series of 4-year full-time courses. By September 2017, the total number of undergraduate students are 415.

Food safety is not only vital to the human health but the society stability, the social economic development, and even the credibility of the government. Since the government is giving to implementing the newly-amended Food Safety Law which is deemed as the strictest legislation in history, it requests a higher level on food safety. To meet such requirements, first of all, a high-quality team of professionals should be set-up so as to ensure the food safety. Throughout the programmes, the students can study and be provided with an understanding of the fundamental theories, knowledge and skills in chemistry, biology, food science, food analysis, hygiene and management. Moreover, students are required to master a wide range of knowledge and high comprehensive diathesis and to have a spirit of innovation and practical ability. Graduates from the College can go into careers either in food producing and processing, circulation and catering enterprises, food and agricultural products testing agencies, or into regulatory management authorities and research institutes. There are many opportunities for our students to work in the areas of food production and operation, food quality and safety management, analytical determinations, supervision management, safety assessment technology development, scientific research, or to play as professional technician and management personnel. The programmes of Food Quality and Safety launched by Medical College particularly highlight educating our student’s awareness and capacity of project management of food safety risk procedures and risk assessment, help students develop the ability in food-safety accident research, safe disposal and precautions. We have a unique collaboration with the Guizhou Provincial Science Academy, and many food enterprise partners，supervision and inspection institutions. Necessary training practices are available in food circulation, food testing, risk management, and food marketing. We are dedicated in developing the students’ ability to analyze and solve practical problems related to food quality and safety.

The College Badge is a symbol of the College of Food Safety, Guizhou Medical University. The two concentric circular design symbolizes the solidarity and cohesion of all the members in the College of Food Safety. The badge comprises the name of Guizhou Medical University at the upper, the name of College of Food Safety at the lower of the outer circle, and a shield located in the middle, written with two Chinese characters of “Food & Safety” in seal scripts of calligraphy, and two ears of wheat adorned below, which stand for the purpose of the college to impart knowledge and educate people, and the principle of guarding food safety for the people. The badge color represents green and health.
Food is the paramount necessity of life, and without food the people cannot survive. The food safety is all important to the fate of people and to the prosperity of country. All of people who engage in the food substance should have the fundamental responsibility to ensure the safety of food, a significant problem to be solved, forever.
